From the manufacturer:

The Electronic Audio Experiments Dagger is a simplified and miniaturized iteration of our Longsword op amp drive. We streamlined the circuit into its core gain stages and dual band shelving EQ, for the ideal match of simplicity and flexibility.

Through miniaturizing the Longsword, the Dagger found its own voice. During this process we re-examined the quirks and unique rough edges of earlier Longsword versions. The V1 and V2 Longswords have less headroom, which let the EQ controls overload the output stage for a distinctively fuzzy sound. While not a traditional use case, we fell back in love with that sound and incorporated those design elements into the Dagger. In addition to being a great fit for smaller pedal boards, the Dagger also stands on its own as a unique drive pedal.

Electrical Specifications

Bypass: Relay switching with true bypass

Input impedance @ 1 Khz: 500kΩ

Output impedance @ 1 Khz: <25K (passive volume control)

Power: 9-18V DC, 2.1 mm center negative barrel. The current draw is 50 mA.

We recommend a regulated, isolated power supply rated for 100 mA minimum. The PSU input is protected against reverse polarity. The Dagger can be operated at 18V for more headroom and clarity.

Controls

  • Volume: output volume, self explanatory

  • Drive: turn clockwise to increase the amount of overdrive

  • Low/High: James/Baxandall tone stack (shelving filters)

  • Shift (toggle): Adjusts the low frequency contour. Up produces a thicker sound, and down produces a tighter sound.

Changelog

  • V2 (current as of July 2021)
    - New mechanical format (updated enclosure, knob spacing, etc.)
    - Added soft-touch relay bypass switching
    - Added Shift toggle
    - More robust power supply and EMI filtering
    - Updated Low/High EQ points to match Longsword V4.5 update

  • “Dunkin” Dagger (April 2020 - Limited Edition)
    - Copyright-flouting artwork variant
    - NOS Germanium diodes made in Massachusetts

  • V1 (2017-2019)
    - Original Release

Note: early Dagger production batches (prior to V2 in July 2021) were intended to have unique variations including adjustments to the clipping diodes, EQ voicing, and amount of drive. Two units will not necessarily sound alike.

Great quality! Sounds great and we’ll built!
I’ve owned a couple of these larger Bluetooth “party” speakers and this is by far the best sounding and well built one I’ve owned. The last one I bought was made by Ion and was much larger, but I think this one sounds WAY better and just looks and feels like quality. The Ion just felt cheap and it died just after the warranty period (of course) It wouldn’t power up anymore even when plugged into a wall outlet. The light show is killer in this if you’re out by the pool at night. I almost forgot to mention, this thing is very lightweight, so easy to carry around. It’s a winner.

Highs Muddled (XL)
As much as I wanted to love the new Klipsch party speakers, there are better options. I purchased this with the JBL Encore Essential (which you can pick up for fifty bucks less right now), and the JBL won, hands down. Even the heft and finishes of the JBL are superior. Both speakers are approximately equally loud. However, the JBL had boomier and punchier bass, with twice the number of boost options (2 vs 1) as the Klipsch. But the Klipsch really struggled with the highs with its one teeter - the smaller, doubled tweeters of the JBL are immensely cleaner and clearer. Long story short, as much as I wanted this speaker to be awesome, Klipsch leaves a lot to be desired here compared to JBL.

How much you like it, will depend on how much you paid.
Its just ok. I have a Klipsch the One, and I would say its slightly worse than that. So I guess it just depends on how much you paid. I paid, $58 with tax and shipping from Amazon, so I think its worth $60. BUT, I would have been said if I paid full price. Full disclosure, I've had a lot of Klipsch and other decent audio over the years so I'm a slight snob. That said, again for the money, it has a mic and battery (battery means its consumable trash) but makes for easy portable set up, its fine.
